Reason im asking. I'm certain i have a bad temp gauge and did that little radio code where you can see all different kinds of things like speed, rpm, just simple stuff. I wanted to see the engine temp and i watched it warm up while driving and it got to 90 C and stoped there. So does the car just not programmed to read out 91,92,93..etc.

Dont think its all that precise because it doesnt need to be.

aight well heres a better question, what should be a good running temp while moving(also have it revo chipped). One of my friends has a VAG and i figured id ask him to do mine

I think I remember mine running around 80C most of the time whenever I used to watch it on there.

hmmm, maybe i have and overheating problem. What are some good ways to fix that(other than an expensive intercooler)?? From what you said murderface, i ran around 80c for about 30 secs and then it just kept rising.

lol I doubt you're overheating.
I was driving a friend's Supra for a while when my car was down and he had a water temp readout. It typically ran around 180-200 deg F (about 80-90 deg C) then when it was getting kinda warm (not overheating, just warm, like from running hard or sitting) it'd get to around 220 deg F (about 105 C) so I wouldn't worry about 90 deg C water temp...

The therostat keeps the temp regulated. An intercooler cools the compressed air. 90*c is normal
its when you start going well past the center line when you need to start looking for stuff
whoa whoa whoa whats this radio code your talking about that shows speed and all that? lol

Its cool to show people, but i dont know how functinable it really is to use. Plus if you ahve a vagcom, you wont need to use it

I have a bad coolant temp gauge (reads two ticks high all the time, even at cold start...) in my TT as well and I've been using the HVAC controls to keep an eye on coolant temps for a few months now. I've noticed the same thing you have, the car will start out cold then gradually build to 90* but never go higher. I used my Vag Com to check the accuracy of the HVAC display and I found out that the "90" is more like an acceptable range.
In Vag Com the coolant temps will warm to as high as 91* or 92* while moving but mainly stay in the high 80s. However, at idle, especially in traffic when the car has been running for a while, Vag Com will show the coolant temp rise all the way up to 102 or even 104 before the thermostat/fans do their thing and cool the car back down into the 90s. I even went as far as taking a 10 minute log at idle just to calm my paranoia about the stupid gauge being off...
So yeah, as far as I'm concerned, as long as the HVAC displays 90* the car isn't overheating. Now if I can just figure out how I'm gonna fix my stupid cluster...
