now for some base coats. we went 5 pass on roof, and 4 pass on rest of whole car. ran out of base so the front bumper did not get painted. oh well. sooooon it will be though.

and the skirts and 1/4 panel body trim. this is post clear, fresh wet.

and the rear bumper. i made the choice of the rear bumper due to the fact that it would take less paint and we could do the whole thing.

and fresh un-taped, rolled it out to the sunlight. i think it looks freaking awesome. Don did one hell of a job. he retired from painting cars 7 years ago, and did not have any plans to do any more paint work.... but he realized i got into a pickle, and being the good guy that he is, he came down and spent the day hooking this up. and it looks awesome. even though i got the wrong type of clear, which only let him put down two coats, it still looks great. and my poor compressor. that last coat of clear, it was a struggling!!!!

this way, even if i dont get it running, which i will, i will still take it to the show and at least have everyone drool on it LOL.

Thats a pretty sweet color for a prizm. What size compressor did you guys use to paint the car?

33 gal 5 hp Craftsman.... 11.9 CFM. it started to get weak when shooting the clear, as it required constant spray, unlike the base coat. it really got a workout today haha.

you can see it right over the "hood" of the car in the last pic? and the "cool can (bucket) right to the left of it.

we used a 100' hose, and take about the first 30' or so and coil it in a bucket filled with cool water. helps cool the air coming out of the compressor tank. lays much nicer.

the guy that painted it (Don - Repoman on Poortex) used to paint cars for a living.... he knows tons of cool lil tricks like that.

Thats clever. The color looks great in the pics but im sure it does it no justice. I only got a 10gal tank for now. Since i finally got a garage of my own, i may step that up a bit to a 60gal tank if i find some funds. Deff would be nice to use a more powerful impact and not need refilled after a few bolts and still be able to do some painting if i wanted.

and a 10 gal will definitely not do a car.....

Its fine for removing wheels in no time and breaking free some bolts quickly, thats about all i use it for on the car. Mainly got it because i needed a nail gun to remodel my new place and so i can remove the nut on top of the shock so i could do my suspension. Painting with a 10gal wouldnt work so well lol.
