i put in new tan front seats, and let me tell u, they are a pain putting back in compared to taking out. anyway, i put the new seats in and now my air bag light is on. i know the seats have air bags and i connected everything so im hoping it just came on bc i had my car on listening to music when i disconnected them.
i am taking my car to autozone to use a scan tool to clear the code and see if it comes back. besides doing that, is there anything else i can check to make sure thats the problem? i double checked the plugs and everything i know they are plugged in right but i just won't know what to do if the code stays on when i clear it tomorrow?
ps: i will have pics up of my improved ride tomorrow!

Just make sure the connectors underneath the front seat are very tight. Then just clear the codes, it should be good.

It's because the bags are now connected, but weren't while you were installing - with the key on, the car saw that you disconnected the seat bags and tripped the light. BTW, in the future, it's not a good idea to have power to the system when you mess with airbags. As you saw, no bad things happened, but if you have power applied when you're connecting them, there's a chance that a spark or surge could blow the bags. Best and safest bet is to disconnect the battery when working with airbags - it's best to play it safe because of the power in the bag igniters.
As isramirez22 said, you can tighten the connectors as much as possible. You can use small zip-ties to secure them too for added insurance. Look in my photo album on the other AF - I have a couple pics there of the connector under my driver's seat with the zip-ties on it. Do that to make sure that you don't strain the connector enough to open it up at all if you move the seat too far, and you shouldn't have to worry about it again.

yeah i didn't think about it until i did unplug them and i remembered that, kind of dumb on my end.
so do i disconnect the battery and reconnect it to get the light to go away then?

No, that won't work. Sometimes a light or code can be cleared by doing that, but the airbag warning isn't one of them - a scanner (maybe even VagCom specifically) has to be used to turn the light off.

maybe i do need vag-com cuz i know they are in their good. i did not zip tie them or anything but the connectors were in perfect shape and snapped in just fine.

You'll probably be fine then, but you could do the zip-ties anyhow as peace of mind since a lot of us eventually have this problem.
