For a 225, with a turbo inlet pipe-42DD-and either borla or blueflame exhaust, would close to a 30hp gain a bit of a stretch for these modifications?
I was told earlier that i should possibly think about a custom built exhaust with the Y-pipe. Here in VA, its a must that i have a muffler, which i think is honestly the most ridiculous thing in the world(other than noise pollution laws i guess), The only people here that don't have mufflers are the mustangs with straight pipes, which get "passed' pretty easily through inspection cuz their buddy is doing the inspecting lol. German car owners in my town tend to be inspected so thoroughly that you usually end up leaving with some bullcrap bill which says your windshield wipers need to be replaced.

The TIP is for feel, not a real power increase. If you were chipped I'd say that 30hp is a good estimate, but for a stock-tune 225 its probably >20. That said, I'm stock tune and I really like how the car feels with exactly those parts, and I figure that once I tune I will make that much more power since I already have the bolt-ons

Yea, i was wondering if i should throw the TIP. So would you just say its good for throttle response and thats about it?? . Yea im chipped so thats good to hear. The chip alone is wild!!! hahah. Wait till you get it done and you'll never look back.

30bhp might be pushing it since we dont move as much cfm as the turbo cars running larger turbos. 25bhp would be more realistic, even though 5bhp isnt really noticable. Also take into account that you will be loosing about 25% the weight of the stock exhaust if not more with a new and larger turbo back.

blueflame ftw... I just love how it looks and sounds. Thinking of pulling the exhaust down after the clamp in the middle... ;)

Blueflame as far as i know isnt a straight through design, so not really the best for all out performance

The TIP will definitely give you better flow and thus more HP. Plus, the stock 225 TIP is known to collapse in high boost applications. It's definitely not something I would overlook if I were modding a stock turbo 225.
As for the hp gains. With a chip, a full turbo back, and some other bolt ons there is no reason your stock 225 crank hp motor shouldn't have 260-275 crank hp. With a K04-022 (stock 225 turbo) I put down 242 front wheel hp in my old Jetta with all the mods you listed plus a few more.

The collapsing was mainly due to people installing poor flowing intakes making the tip like a straw sucking up a thick malt.

Gee, cincy, which intake was that? ;) I still can't believe you put down 242whp

So would a K&N 57i series be poor flowing intake?? hahah i hope not cuz thats what i have right now lol

Gotcha;)
Funny intake story though, one of these guys at my college told me that an intake was connected directly to my exhaust which basically acted as a straight hole thru my car. He said and intake is made to "cut through the air" like a "jet plane" making the car go faster. I agreed with him while he sat there embracing his moment of genious.

i thought the 42dd dp was supposed to give 15hp 15tq alone? So with a chip, dp, and exhaust the gain wouldnt be over 25? i confuse

Someone else added in the chip. A turboback and tip will net you in the 20whp range, so i guess 30bhp is realistic. THats on top of a chip

Well that doesnt sound too shabby at all. Im chipped i just want a lil more spice in my throttle, but at the same time, i dont wanna be mr.race car man either.
Hey cincy, can you explain to me the difference between whp and bhp. I know thats dumb question to ask, but id like to know for future posts so i dont make a fool of myself

BHP is power made at the engine, and WHp is power made at the wheels after drivetrain loss

Ahhh yes i understand now... So a coward would tell you his BHP,,,,while a real man would tell you his WHP right???

If its in BHP, they are making a guess since the only way to get numbers is on a dyno. Since most use a chassis dyno, they will have whp and the only way to get bhp is on an engine dyno.

sorry to bring back from the dead.
Only thread I could find relavent enough to post that I just ordered my Chinnese/EBAY TIP in Black.... $65 shipped to my door (MAKE AN OFFER BID... I LIKE)
Hoping to feel a little bit more throttle response. It will be topped with a K&N drop in. Then I will be dropping the exhaust from the rear clamp back.
EDIT: this place needs a shout box!!!!
