All you need is a stock replacement. Here is a used stock one for $50 http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4056527

If you're planning on keeping everything stock, you can do what Cincy suggested and get a stock replacement, or you can talk to Kinetic Motorsport and pick up their high flow K03s manifold. I ran them on both of my stock 1.8Ts with a nice boost in torque

The high flow manifold will run you around $395 though, so a used stock manifold is much more cost effective.

Ebay has some knock off cast manifolds for about $120 shipped. Just make sure you get the gti/jetta/180tt manifold. The A4/passatt manifold puts the turbo on the other side

Should the turbo be on the belt side or tranny side of the manifold, i always thought belt side.

The 225 has to keep the stock manifold, there is no upgraded cast manifold.

The 225 and 180q both can use the same manifold and dp with a BT setup

Depends on how you want to run it and the manifold you use. Some run it one way, others do it the other.
