Thanks to the dealer I have get to fix my euro license plate cover! What they did is RIVIT... The US license plate hold threw the euro cover and threw my bumper cover!! Bastards!! But now I have something to do on weekends!! Last weekend I took the bumper off and got the euro cover off (also did my reflector delete last weekend!). So now this weekend I started to patch the holes!
I got some bumper re pare kit stuff ot a auto parts store ($3.50) 80grit sand paper ($1.60).
Got a picture below to see where I'm at this weekend. Next weekend I plan on getting surfacer primer and paint/clear.!!

Yeah. Use the brand "Fuser" real nice to work with!
This stuf in the kit was like..rubber cement. Wasn't real fun to work with. But it was a small area.
Forgot to say that stuff is Bondo/ body filler that you see. The bumper kit was just for the holes.

Ok back on my project again!! Past couple weekends iv been sheet-rocking our basement(blah!!)
But today I sprayed 3 coats of surficer primer(tall can with gray top*picture below) you put this down before wet sanding. It fills in any pin holes and sand scratched from the 80grit paper. Once dry ill wet sand with 600grit. After that ill spray 3 coats of black (with a 15min TAC time with heat lamp *tac is not dry). Once dry(1-3hours under heat lamp) ill color sand with 1000grit. Then go one to spray clear (same steps as color).

Picture below is the products I used
Bumper repair kit ($5)
Flexible Primer Surfacer($15)
Dupli-color Black/Clear ($5.50 each. 5oz cans)
80grit/600grit/1000grit (all paper $5)

Mt dew is awesome!!
Anyone can do this project! Just gotta get out and try it! The worst that can happen is you have to sand a it all back down. Its a very strong peace too so don't worry too much about breaking it
There are cheaper Surfacers so you can do this for under $30. Its a safe start on learning how to fix lil things like this.

Next I'm going to re-paint my side mirror covers.
After that I 'MIGHT' finely get my front spliter made!!

So today I started a new project! Making my front splinter. Decided to skip the mirrors for now!
What I did was went and bought a model airplane foam wing! Cut it in half. Cut it to size and to it will fit and what knot. And I just got done fiberglassing the one side.(Out of fiber sheets :( ) Waiting for that to dry

Never got the point of the dual setup, on large one works better

I plan on doin 2 on the sides. Then make a more flater on for the middle. There will be space between the slitter and the bumper.

the point of the splitter is to help guide the air above and below the car to prevent turbulance. If you have a space between them, it may do more harm than good.

Just the middle one will have the space. That way when I do get a fmic. It will push air to that.

Just want everyone to know that removing spray on tint from your tail lights is a B!TCH!!!

Warranty
03-15-2009, 04:53 PM
^^that's one of the major selling points from the guys that do tinted film on tails for a living. You might have been better off trading yours to someone that wanted tinted tails. That's unless yours turned out like doo-doo(which is possible when you spray them from a can)

Actually the spray tint turned out awesome! What got all goofed up was every time I washed an dried it would leave horrible scratches in the clear. So after buffing them like every other week for months I thought today I'd put new clear on! So I had everything scoffed up/cleaned up. Put the first coat of clear on waited for it to tack up! Came back to find the clear had EAT'N the F'n tint!! Can't figure out why? Same clear I used b4.

So after 5 hours I got everything stripped and back to red tail lights!!
Something that would have been a hour job turned out to be a day project :(

x2 its always something. For me its either a stuck bolt or my stupid ass drops a nut/bolt and takes me an hour to find and extract it

Yep, always give yourself at least 3 extra hours for a project, and scale that based on difficulty. I read all over that a timing belt should only take ~7hrs, but mine took 2.5 days (with a few weekend work hours). It was the first time, but I had all the tools, parts, etc.

Other times I don't even mean to have a project; the other day I really cleaned my low-beam connection, and at one point I had the intake totally out, the engine covers off, and I was ripping out my SAI hoses LOL. 30 minutes became three hours like that. BTW, a running SAI pump w/o hoses sounds like a cross between a dump truck and fighter jet. How wonderful http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthdown.gif
