primed for oil pressure. 40-60 psi after about a minute.
fired up first try.
runs and idles great. i remembered to align the TB before i started it this time. you learn things doing it so much LOL.
17 in/hg on these solid cams @ idle, not too shabby.
15.xx AFR @ idle.
50 psi oil pressure @ idle.
14 v @ idle.
now to get this thing switched over to E85 after some ring seating work, and off to tune.
cranking to prime. priming the oil pump, gets 40+ psi on cranking. excellent.

and finally, the moment i have been waiting for for 7+ months, since 9-25-09. my car running again. firing it up very first try, is priceless.

nah. those are in the ported AWP head, in storage. that head is fully built and just sitting around.
AWP ported majorly.
ST springs and retainers
ST inconel exhaust valves, 3 groove.
ST +1mm intakes, SS Nitrided, 3 groove.
1013652 cast CAT's with new OEM lifters.
fresh deck and 3 angle valve job. clearanced 70 degree behind the intakes to utilize the +1mm valves, as well. major bowl work also. that is the head i went 592 AWHP with on the pink motor.
even have a Piper Vernier cam gear for AEB block config too.
these cams now are CAT 1003756, the baby ones of the solid group.

here is stock exhaust versus these.
http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu354/drag-coupe2/gotlift.jpg
and stock intake versus these.
http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu354/drag-coupe2/intakecamz.jpg
lastly, the cam card for these calls for 106/106 peak angle. but Joey and Jerry took these out to Techtonics Tuning and Collin set them up to run 112/112.... will run much better for us this way.
and the new head is fully blueprinted as well. in a non-ported AEB casting. not even a gasket match!

Hope all goes well in tuning and the head holds the revs and makes good power.

WOOHOO!!!! me too.
we are going to detune and run E85 now. take out 10 psi, 7-8 degrees, etc. make it stable, run it down the track first, then go push it.

soooooooo.
today. (after work of course)
dropped the oil, changed the filter (to the bigger diesel filter BTW).
re-torqued head, 85 ft/lb. (up from the initial 80ft/lb)
put the clamps on the inner front CV boots.
remembered to tighten the trans mounts to trans. (big one there)
extended the wiring to the AWIC Reservoir.
fitted the new TB cover, drilled the hole for the cam gear bolt. (WTF? i dunno, must be because the CAT gear.)
received a full suspension setup from a G60 Corrado. front subframe, all struts (H&R/Tokico), axles, hubs, brakes, calipers, spindles, rear beam, rack, starter, all of it. (i know, not related, but it interrupted my day) ((WTF am i gonna do with it???))
installed the SINGLE BOOST PIPE (yeah i know..... but luck has nothing to do with it. PLANNING)
ordered up a broke piece of alum from my chief fabricator for a fan mounting plate.... (broke being the proper term for bent)
pulled the start-up plugs, installed the run plugs.
painted the rear filler foam thing in the driver rear side. (???)
installed all of the VC breather lines for the final time.
one thing left besides mounting the fan; and that is make a clutch pedal stop.
tomorrow i think i will add oil, and fire it up after jacking it up and supporting it from the control arms to prevent suspension droop. my idea is to do some light load running to seat the rings. a little brake action with some light 4th gear rev runs up and down the range.... on stands in the garage.
then i can dump the C-16 (boy do i like that stuff) and 1000cc injectors, add E85 and 1600cc injectors, and into the trailer it goes to await the tuning date. actually, now that i revisit the list, imma leave the car in the garage as i have a few details to take care of in the trailer.
and yes, i am going to drive it tomorrow. just down the street.

sorry for being a pest at something this high caliber , but why do you have a O2 sensor when you really dont have any other sensors (mas, map,...)
or after i typed that, is that a temp sensor after the turbo ?
speeding-g60
05-15-2010, 09:33 AM
hahaha. not a pest, a legit question.
that is WB02.... and there is EGT also. you do not see the MAP sensor, its under the plenum of the intake manifold, as is the IAT.
anybody who does something even @ 30% the level i built this to should have a Wideband....
and if you look closely, you can see the EGT probe as well, it is closer to the turbo.
if you look even closer, you will see a second 02 sensor bung that has a plug. that is for the dyno. tail sniffer setups are ok, but the true representation is as close to where your 02 sensor is for the dyno one to read as well.
and back when i dyno'd the rabbit, we actually hacked the WB from the dyno (it is Autronic on the Dyno Dynamics) and put the signal into the ECU as well....

Are you planning on taping up the headlight and other openings when you run it? Dont see having those big gaps helping the et.
speeding-g60
05-15-2010, 07:54 PM
i started on that actually. made filler plates for the turn signal holes. the pass headlight is the turbo feed, and the pass lower grill area is the oil cooler.
the driver side openings i can close off.... was actually gonna reach out to a few of my friends in Europe and Germany to see if they can find me some factory lower grills.
but right now, first track day, i am not looking for BEST of anything, i am just looking to send it down the strip a few times. its going to be detuned somewhat so i can go and have fun, we will push this setup after i get to drive it. unlike the last two motors. but we really didnt "PUSH" those two, either. i just have to stay away from 45 PSI is all. LOL

I figured you had something coming. Be cool if you made a funnel of sorts for the turbo. Any worries of the turbo doing 45psi? Seen some evo guys having issues with this much boost awhile back. Think the bearings didnt like it after to many times. Hope for you and Ed this wont be the case.

nah i dont see a problem with it....
one thought i had before i tube-framed the front was to use a stock euro headlight and make it into the turbo feed with fiberglass. but that wont go now.
