My motor has been eating oil lately, like 1 quart to 2 tanks of gas. I looked at the turbo (GT 3076) and its still in great shape. When I did the rods, I threw in a set of rings for good measure, 8,000 miles ago. At the same time I put on an AEB head with unknown mileage.. I also had a crack in my intake manifold and ran rich (black smoke under boost a few times) that leads me to washed out rings?

I just picked up a video bore scope and had a look inside the bores. The piston tops are covered in black goop. There is still a crosshatch pattern in the cylinder walls. cyl #4 has a minor score in it maybe half an inch long and the size of a hair. the rest of them are great.

I went in through the injector holes and the center valves on each cylinder are mint, no buildup- shiny. The outer valves on each intake port are covered in black tar like stuff. Could my head be in need of a valve job, guides and seals? I only have visible smoke under load, mainly at night when cars are behind me to light it up. my oil also has a gas smell to it. I dont own a compression tester, but Im going to borrow one for my next step.

one last thing, stock headbolts and 25psi daily driver, is it possible the head gasket is leaking from the oil passages into the cylinders?

Any advice?
