About 7 months ago, i broke this ( which is pictured below). The total repair cost was $780.00. I was told by the shop that he went easy on me price wise. What do you guys think?

Along with that, i had to replace my shift boot which came with the brushed aluminum ring. So that's just to add into the total price.

You probably could of found someone parting out or a junkyard and got the part for maybe $30 and installed it yourself in a couple hours..... sorry

I hear ya man, i had asked him before repairing it if he could find a good quality used part. Hahahha I assumed he didnt get that used part i was hoping for hahah. The only cheap part i know exists for a TT is probably the lug nut plastic caps for the wheels. And those are like 4-7 dollars a piece hahha.

I bet they got the whole shifter assembly at dealer cost, guessing $400 of something crazy. I wonder if the deiselgeek shifter would of worked instead

Most of that assembly was replaced when i installed my B&M setup that i bought off ebay...

Was the install pretty straight forward. I figured it would be tight gettin down in there. Im pretty sure my center consul came out when they did this. The scratch crap all up. Made me mad

You could have gotten a leather shift boot for $26. The diesel geeks shifter is under the hood. I wanted to do the sigma-6 and the B&M atthe same time. Jim from diesel geeks said it wasn't suggested. He said that people that had done both, were burning out synchros. I think I'm going to do the brass shifter end links, and the Sigma-6. Jim also said that the B&M is a major pain in the ass to install. He mentioned the need to drop the cat, and said it was about an "all day" install.

Sometimes he has them. He usualy sells them for a pretty good price. You just have to ask him. He quoted me$130 for a used one.

I've seen the whole shifter box and cables go for $100 on Vortex (the shift box is the same as a Mk4 Golf/Jetta be it 5spd, 6spd, whatever).

I hope mine doesn't break. I've been trying to remove my shift knob, but the entire shifter is spinning.

Well im not sure exactly how i broke it.

Murderface- I WISH I WAS POWERSHIFTING-i only do it for the ladies haha

I was on my way home from school going about 35 mph in 3 gear. Shifted up to 4th and was cruzzing along when out of the corner of my eye, i watched the entire shift knob like pop up. I went to grab it to see if i was just seeing things. When i got a hold of the shift knob it was as limp as dough. I actually touched the shift knob head against the circular aluminum brushed ring. So this isnt good new in heavy traffic, especially since im locked in 4th gear with no way to get out of it. i somehow ran a redlight, swerve into the turn lane, and barely, and i mean barely made it into a mall parking lot.

However, i let a friend drive my car earlier that week. I never let anyone drive it unless they have another TT. This guy had an Mroadster and the gears on that thing were equivalent to stirring coal. I guess mine felt like cotton candy so he just gave it hell. I wanted to say something, but i just couldnt. He did powershift and i think that may have done the trick lol. I feel that that was my biggest mistake ive made while having the TT. If that wouldnt have happend. Id be chillin here with my new 42DD and we'd be pickin up hoes

Yea, I'm fine with stock height/throw, I just hate how it feels like there is chewing gum in the OEM shifter bushings
