Well the Tip didn't last very long at 15psi , but I knew it was only a matter of time before something happened with it (just didn't think it would be such a short period of time). I should find out on Monday what exactly went wrong with it. However, good can come from a little bad. I am possibly going to be swapping in a 02J that way I can finally fully enjoy the car and actually push the turbo a bit:w00t: Hopefully things will turn out like I am wishing they will and I will be rid of the awful Tiptronic once and for all. OK there is my little venting session, I will try and update with pics as things move along

Yes please let us know how that goes! I too have a tip. And I can feel things getting bad on it. And I dont have anything done to it! Iver heard/read to re-build a tiptron is around $700. I did have a website that has parts for tiptron that can take 600-700hp. But I lost it :(

Yeah this is the second one I have gone through, the first one failed when the car was basically stock and thankfully insurance paid the $6k price tag for a new one. I have now decided I really don't want to deal with another new/rebuilt Tiptronic so in goes a 02J:D
The Tiptronic you are talking about that can hold that much power would be probably from an older RS6/A6 or B5 S4 because aftermarket rebuild kits are just now getting up to 400hp for our transmissions

For that 02j swop do u have to get a different ecu? You should throw up a link on info about this 02j

No don't have to get a new ecu, you can recode the stock one with VAGCOM. Finding info on the swap has been rather difficult because everything is very scattered. Look through the Manual Transmission section on vwvortex and you will find some info. Also try searching different transmission swap phrases on vwvortex, searching (auto to manual) turns up a good number of results. Reading a bunch of different threads is the best place to start. Keep in mind that swapping from auto to manual can be very expensive and a long process, but it definitely beats spending $6,000 on a new Tip.

Sad to say you might be left with a broken 02J if you run more boost lol they don't take to lots of power too well either.

Yeah I know they are not as strong as the 02M, but it is so much more expensive and I am getting a great deal on the transmission and all the little parts needed for the swap. I am prepared to be easy on the 02J and take care of it.

7-speed dcg swap? haha, i read some info on the dsg in the 3.2L, definitely not your typical tip. I didn't realie the 1.8L tip was so weak.
if you swap in a 3.2L dsg trans, there's a build kit for it to make it withstand over 500tq.
yes you'd lose the fun in using the manual, but it'd make up for it in how fast those suckers shift. Not sure of the process for installing this though... i know the dsg is like 3k i heard... hmm.
