I'd give a nut to try out an Auto Union Type C or D, they look so damn cool and produced up to 600hp in the 1930s (V16+supercharger =). Say what you want about Hitler, but at least some of the money he spent went towards good (cars)...

And for good measure, a Sport Quattro http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/images/smilies/bowdown.gif

Those would be scary as hell with a open roof with that much power on the tires available back then.

"In February 2007, an Auto Union D Type nicknamed the "Hitler-Porsche" was auctioned by Christie's in Paris.[2] The 1939 Auto Union D-Type, thought to be one of only two in existence, has no actual connection to Adolf Hitler - he certainly never drove it, and probably never saw it, though he did commission Ferdinand Porsche in 1933 to design a car (aided by a grant from the German government) that could win Germany a Grand Prix. Although expected to be the most expensive car ever sold at auction at more than $12 million, the car did not find a buyer in the sealed auction. This was because of a discrepancy that was found with the chassis and engine numbers and the fact that they did not correspond with the numbers expected to be found on the car that it was believed to be." - Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto_Union)

I saw a special on this car. Pretty interesting stuff. After WW2 the car was taken and reversed engineered by the Russians.

EDIT: I would love to own a 997 GT3 RS :)

I don't understand why they ran such skinny tires to try and lay down 600hp and supercharged V16 grade torque. Was there some reason why they couldn't make tires wider back then?

They technology wasn't there; if I remember correctly, the tires were specially made...look at the top pic, that AU is running a dually set-up :D

RS2 would be sweet :) There is something really appealing about a car that hauls ass AND all your stuff lol
