Yesterday I purchased a 2001 A4 1.8T FWD for $1000. The problem with the car is the transmission. The car runs and does drive, but I believe the torque converter is bad. I cant wait to get the car fixed. I bought this car for my wife, I already have a 97 B5 1.8T for myself. I purchased it for $600 and dropped a used engine in for another $350. I love coming up on deals like this. I think this definitely makes me an Audi Freak!!!
Check out the pictures of it. Just wait till I get everything fixed and looking great!

Great News! I am 99% sure that I have a drive axle input shaft seal leak. I know that I am leaking a lot of fluid, I just need to search for the leak. Then, I will have repaired any transmission problem there was. To make a long story some what short, I filled the trans. with the only 2 qts. of fluid I had, and it improved greatly, But I discovered I had a major leak, aftrer driving approximately 20 miles, I noticed a small difference in the shift. Very very soon, I will track the leak down, repair and refill with fluid, I will keep you all updated.

You probably need to replace the torque converter seal, it will literally pour fluid out of the front of the trans if its leaking. The seal should only cost you around $10 bucks, just don't go driving it around with fluid leaking, it will tear up the TCC.

Well, I cant figure out where the darn leak is coming from. I plan to take the car to an Audi specialist. Can anyone reccommend a place near Ontario,Ca zip code 91764 ?
