Here is a short list of what i think are the highest quality upgrades that only A8 owners will ever want/need.
You do have a few options here to improve the power output of your A8.
First up chip tuning.
034 motorsport www.034motorsport.com utilizes unitronic chip tuning and in my opinion is the best bang for the buck. For all of the 4.2L chips the price is the same set at $550 united states currency.
97-99= 320hp chipped
00-02= 328hp chipped
03-04= 349hp chipped
05-06= 355hp chipped
07+ FSI motors cost a little bit more at $650 but it will bring your brake horsepower up to 378hp from 350hp.
W12 owners also have an available chip for $800 which brings the horsepower from 450hp to 479hp.
MTM http://www.mtm-online.de/en/ is the absolute top of the line performance and cosmetic upgrades in the world for the A8. They also have the most expensive prices in the world.
MTM chips start at $1,094 and go up from there, in my opinion the unitronic chip is the way to go here.
Those of you who have a very large pocket book may want to upgrade to MTM's supercharger upgrades. There are three different power options, see site for details.
420hp= $23,810
450hp= $35,126
500hp= $38,350
These prices are insane i know, but i believe PES is currently making a supercharger for the A6 4.2L for $5,000 so it shouldn't be too long before PES breaks the monopoly on the supercharger market.
MTM also has many cosmetic upgrades and conversions available.
LLTEK www.lltek.com is unique in its ability to create conversions that look just as good if not better than stock. Including getting rid of that 04 D3 A8's ugly front fascia. If you want the S8's front end but don't have the cash to buy an 07 S8, LLTEK has got the stuff you want.
