Yo guys, ive talked about this so much i feel like i should have one already. Any difference between the race series performance wise(other than the test pipe) compared to the street version with the cats. Its a shame i dont have a 180, there so much cheaper !!!

Depending on the cat, you wont lose much hp. Theirs seem to flow well since they can still set off the cel. If you need a cat, just order it

yea your right. Here in VA theres a little rule that we have to have a cat, but it would be nice to have the race series one, throw the cat on we need be, then take it right back off and continue being the rebel i am hahah

You can always get the race one and do that. The fwd cars (vw included) have a great flowing cat that can be made to fit 3" dp's. You can find someone that will send you theirs for cheap and have it made to work.

You'll need a Wayne's angle block spacer or one from MCPi, my catted 42DD threw a CEL...when I went to check/clear it at Advance Auto the guy was like "Whoa man, you have to clear you're own code; I don't want your car to blow up..." lol I'm pretty sure the look on my face said it all, the second o2 doesn't do shit other than measure emissions

You can see the stocker here

http://www.goapr.com.au/products/18t_rhd_downpipe1.jpg

You just cut the opening to 3" and have someone weld on some 3" pipe so you can connect it to the dp. You can then use either exhaust sleeves, flanges, or vbands to make the connections. Those go from cheapest to most expensive and performace wise.

Should fit in the same section they have for a cat

I would call/email them for the length to be certain. Ill measure the fwd cat for length if you want also

gotcha, no prob.

Hey l88m22vette hahaha i like the advance auto story. Some of the guys there arent really qualifed if you know what i mean. However, i know id screw up if i worked there. He probably thought the turbo was gonna come out and bite him if he tried to clear it

If you arent the most capable with the car, let someone else do the dp. Friends that work for food/beer are the best. But if you have a jack and stands or a ramp, you should easily be able to swap the cat/race section no matter how you do it

Now speaking of taking out the old dp, should i be excepting some fitment issues first time around. I just have that feelin that its not gonna fit right off the bat. Second, how hard is it to reach up to the point where the dp makes contact with the turbo?? it looks really tight on most of the pics ive seen, but then again, ive never been able to actually look for myself

You have to either drop the subframe to remove the dp as a whole, or cut it in 2 and remove it. I havent done it on a 225, but you should be able to remove the bolts mostly from the top by looking at it.

has anyone ever bought a fwd dp for a 225 and modified it to work? I havent ever seen a side by side comparison so i dont know what all is different. I would think you could use ur stock dp flange and make some adjustments to the dp to get it to fit...

just scroll up, i have both a fwd and 225 posted. The biggest diff is that the ko3 discharges out the bottom and the 225 out the side. That and 3 vs 4 bolt outlet

i wasnt even paying attention to that lol. Look like it would be easier to just fab a dp then. I figured maybe you could make one of the cheap $100 dps work with some fabrication.
