I was just at the track today and there was a guy that was running a honda del-slow for the test and tune.... that was impressing the crap out of me.. It was actually not slow running 7.24-7.26 1/8th mile times...
So i walked over to the car and there started a conversation with him asking what he had and he said it was turbo'd... so i assumed it was a traditional honda motor like an b16, b18, h22, k20, k24 engine.. well he tells me NO after like 7 guesses.. and im so confused at this moment and i asked him what the engine come from.. is it even an honda engine.. he states it is from an acura... so i start to name off the engines i know from acura engine line and every one of them was wrong..so im completely confused at this moment in time so he pops the hood after telling me its a k23... to find the top of the motor says turbocharged technology by acura....
Its a 2.3L with an VGT turbo STOCK!!!! its such a radical way of doing vgt to... im impressed i didnt even know that acura has made its way into a stock turbo car yet..... he said he is running the stock engine with the boost turned up to 25psi from 12psi... and he is putting down around 390hp...

Funny part is the actual turbo assembly looks no bigger then a gt3071.. so it would easily fit if i can somehow come up with the part# or something on this turbo and who makes it...

That seems like a lot of work for what it is. VGT is nice, but with DBB, ETT, and Billet Compressor wheels, fooling with this stuff seems less important unless you are trying to run a huge ass turbo on a small motor.

from what i read that swap is impossible and has been attempted/failed a few different times... guess he is the only one to get it to work?

i personally would just run a k20 and turbo it.

He probably needed the engine to use the ecu so he could get the vgt to work.

what are ETT and VGT?
DBB is dual ball bearing right?

DBB - dual ball bearing
ETT - Extended Tip Tech. From Borg Warner that has a longer inducer which widens the compressor map and also decreases lag
VGT - Variable Geometry Turbo. The turbine housing has vains that slide open and close to change the A/R of the housing which increases spool w/o scarficing top end. Seen on many Cummings deisel trucks. Thing is most are electronic and its difficult to get the proper current at giving rpms w/o the ecu's control

from what i could tell it was boost activated manually.. there was nothing i could see that was plugged into the turbo electrically... i tried to take pics but it was to dark out and the cell couldnt get a detailed pic that was worth anything.. next time i see him im going to ask more into it to see how the turbo works and what brand it is..
