I'm thinking of running some new wheels but have no idea about the fittment. They are 18x9 with a 40mm offset. Will they fit and what spacers would I need. Can anyone give me info to better understand wheel fitting and offsets ect? I really appreciate any help thanks.

You'd need at least an 8mm spacer to get back to factory offset. How that will sit in the fender I have no idea. lol

they will be .35mm outside the fender

i was looking for some 17x9's, but the lighter ones only seem to come in the 114.3x5 bolt pattern, and 45mm offset. pretty dumb

looks like the rpf1's just keep calling out to me... no matter how ugly they are.

You could go directly to the wheel companies and ask if they would drill for a 5x100 pattern, I can't believe it would be that much more expensive than any normal set of wheels they make. What wheels were you specifically looking at?

the offset is what kills me. the 45mm offset would be inside the fender and would rub like crazy.

i was looking at a few 17x9's

Offset is the distance from the inside lip of the wheel to the back face of the mounting face. A higher number means the width of the wheel will sit further towards the center of the car when compared to the hub face. If you're adding spacers to correct, you subtract the spacer width from the wheel offset to get the new corrected value.

I know, which is why 45mm is too close to the splash guards or wheel well or w/e. It'll rub when i turn hard, which is common in autox.

i want to try on a few sets at a dealer to find out what will fit the best before i buy anything.

my last autox i was sliding all over the place. 17x9 with a 10mm offset is what will keep the wheel flush to the side of the car... (from what i looked at for the front of the car).
the rear wheels i could care less about as long as they are not outside the fender, or too far inside... 17x10's! haha I'd like to see my tail rip around on me this time!
